2017/2018 Season Of Shred is officially here

Heaps of prize winners!
On Saturday December 9, we kicked off summer with the Season Of Shred (SOS) which means Queenstown mountain biking season is officially here!

After what seemed like a month of straight sunshine, last summer's weather decided to creep around again for what made for a damp start to our SOS party. Luckily the Through The Loop Enduro riders had already come through the finish line with Eva Dethlefsen winning the women's category and Reece Potter taking out the men's open. Awesome job goes to Jimmy Pollard and Quentin Kenning for their organisation of the race.

It was a great call to get a new, huge marquee in time for this year's event as it became the central hub of thirsty and hungry attendees soaking in a variety of beef, lamb, chicken, pork and vegetarian tacos as well as Emerson, Altitude, Crimson Badger, and Boundary Road beers on tap.

Queenstown riders being legends as usual rode through the rain for the Vertigo Huckathon. Judges heckled their mates riding and gave out prizes for the Best Whip, Best Goon Style and Best Trick. We also heard Mr Kepler Rek still owes a Mr Jake Hood $100 cash for a manual down mini dream.

Eventually the sun came out and spirits rose as bit more. Thousands of dollars of prizes were given away care of all our amazing sponsors. The grand prize being a brand new Kona Operator from yours truly, Atlas Beer Cafe, and the GC's at Bikeaholic. A silent auction was also held for those highly sought after prizes, such as the first Bell Super DH helmet in the country care of Bell and Worralls. As usual, all the proceeds from the event go to to our Queenstown Mountain Bike Club.

Shoutout to Bad News for rocking us through the night with their groovy covers. A mosh pit ensued in typical Queenstown mountain bike scene style.

Massive thank you again to all our sponsors, riders, trail builders, staff, volunteers, to Fraser Gordon for his MC work, Callum Wood and Zack Faulkner for their photography skills and everyone who turned up and braved the rain to help us kick off our Season Of Shred in style! We truly could not do it without you all.

Ride hard and see you at Atlas soon!

Atlas Bike Convention season ender party!

Time again to celebrate the end of an epic summer season and welcome the winter snow. Now (appropriately) renamed the Atlas Bike Convention (ABC), we review the season over some drinks, good food, footage of our adventures, great friends, banter and as always – made possible by our amazing sponsors – massive prizes!!!

This year the Atlas Bike Convention will be held on May 15, following Queenstown Mountain Bike Club's 'League of Gentlemen Fancy Dress' mega-train (mega-train is weather permitting). The party starts at 5pm – don't be shy to come rocking your mega-train attire.

As usual, we'll be expanding into neighbouring Farelli's Trattoria so that there's plenty of room for everyone to come down and enjoy themselves. Emerson's, Tuatara, and Zeffer are continuing their support of this good cause. All proceeds from the mega raffle are donated to the GC's at QMTBC. More support means more trails to enjoy!

The prize list keeps on growing. So far, we can confirm:

The raffle starts at 8pm so be sure to grab your raffle tickets – on sale now at Select, Bikeaholic and of course at Atlas.

2 for $5, 5 for $10, 12 for $20

Mark it in your calendars and come celebrate with us!

WHY DO WE DO THIS?

The Queenstown Mountain Bike Club is host to over a 1000 members yearly. They are highly dedicated to building and maintaining local trails, hosting special events and most importantly bringing the biking community together as one. The QMTBC does so much for the community, and Atlas wants to continue to get behind and support the club as much as we can! We know our ongoing support of QMTBC definitely gives them that extra helping hand when it comes to their fundraising and growth.

We can not forget to give a big shout out and thank you to Ronnie Baker for all our design, Brandland for all our printing and Tom Tom Productions for sights and sound up Wynyard! GCs!

Help us kick off summer and celebrate the Atlas Season of Shred Party and raise a ton of dough for the awesome Queenstown Mountain Bike Club.
See you all November 21!

Emerson's Dollar Donations for Queenstown Mountain Bike Club

Richard Emerson gets involved
Throughout October and also into November we donated one dollar from every pint of Emerson's sold to QTMBC for Wynyard Bike Park.

Thanks to everyone who bought some Emerson's and also big thanks to the fantastic folk at Emerson's for donating a few extra kegs to the cause. Together we raised a total of $5461 for the club.
