Atlas Season of Shred 2018 – QMTBC Fundraiser

Atlas Season of Shred fundraiser for the Queenstown Mountain Bike Club (QMTBC) went down last Saturday (December 8th) and it was a great success! The sun was out, the banter was strong, the beers were poured and the party was on.

Winners oft he King Salmon Race Reece Potter and Kathy Morris
The day started off with the Vertigo kids jump jam. After watching the little ones shredding the jump park, the racers from the King Salmon race entered the Wynyard Terrain Park. Quentin Kenning and Jimmy Pollard did an awesome job organising this, together with Bikeaholic. Riders made there way up to the top of the Fernhill Loop to then race down the Salmon Run. Queen of Salmon Run is Kathy Morris and King is Reece Potter. Great job guys, we hope you enjoyed your fresh salmon!

The sun was high, the atmosphere was great. For everyone to refuel themselves throughout all this action Atlas Beer CafĂ© put on a splendid spread of tacos and corn snacks while keeping the cold beers pouring from Emerson’s, Altitude Brewing and Crimson Badger.

After crowning the King and Queen of Salmon, riders began to warm up for the Vertigo Huckathon. This would not have happened without the help of Emmerson Wilken, Pete McNally, and other QMTBC members who put in the hard yards to prepare the jumps and tracks. Cheers guys!

Congrats to Billy McLean for winning best style, David Perez Nanni for best trick and Jack Humphrey for best goon. We loved watching you guys sending it!

Volunteers also showed their love and support for the club by either selling raffle tickets and merchandise, holding stop/go signs, welcoming you at the doors, setting up and packing down. Big thanks to those legends, you know who you are.

While the silent auction – with prizes like a season pass for the Skyline Gondola’19, 3 Mountain season pass from NZski, a Heli Bike, Go Orange Ultimate Experience and many more – came to an end, Bad News were rocking hard through the night with amazing tunes. As always, they did an awesome job.

During our live auction held by Cara Grimwade and Fraser Gordon, amazing items like the Giant Glory donated by Vertigo found a new home. Wesley McAllister auctioned off his ginger mane for an incredible $600!  We love to see how passionate this community is towards mountain biking! We would also like to give a huge shout out to our friends from Charge About Queenstown, who have donated the Moustache Down 5 long travel eMTB to the QTMBC!

We’d like to give a massive shout out and a big thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, staff, riders, trail builders and to Fraser Gordon for his MC work! We could not have done this without the help of all of you! Each and every single one of you are incredible. Thank you Jake Hood and Ashton Oliver for these beautiful photos to capture this fun filled day.

Last but not least we are super proud to announce that we have raised $15,221.50 for the Queenstown Mountain Bike Club! This is incredible! This is all thanks to the 680 people that came down and celebrated with us! We love you guys.

Happy Season Of Shred 2018/2019 and safe hucking everyone! See you at Atlas for a post ride refreshment and feed.

Don’t forget to give us a follow on Instagram and Facebook for daily specials and other fun stuff!
