Atlas is airbourne!

At Atlas we are always keen to find ways to engage with wider Queenstown community. As reported here on our News page, we made a donation to QTMBC this season to help fund the digging and maintenance of local bike trails.

However, earth is not our only element..! If you've raised your eyes up to the skies you may have glimpsed the Atlas wing gliding through the air with expert paraglider Tim Parkinson at the helm.

We caught up with him for a quick
Q&A:

How did you get into flying?

Saw it, tried it, loved it!! Never working in a bank again!

What's your favourite place in Queenstown to fly?

Skyline Gondola. Easy access, insane view, heaps of vertical to get upside down!

Queenstown local or Queenstown import?

Import! But after 13 years here I'm trying to fit in!

How do you like your Atlas steak cooked?

By the chef! As often as possible! (medium rare)

Emerson's Pilsner or Emerson's 1812?

On a non-flyable day, 1812.

We'll be posting more pictures from the Atlas wing so stay tuned...

International accolade for Atlas!

We're very excited to announce that Atlas has been recommended in the international food guideWhere Chef's Eat.

The book, published by Phaidon, is a new guide that asked the world's top chefs where they themselves like to eat. To quote the publishers:

"We observed that, when it comes to dining out, chefs go to extreme lengths in search of good food. In fact, chefs eat well or they don’t eat at all."

High praise indeed for the talented, Atlas kitchen team! We are very proud of them and thrilled to be included in this fabulous, international restaurant guide.

Emerson's Weissbier...

...is delicious! And, it's one of our Summer guest beers. It's bottle conditioned and made with Bavarian yeast that's imported especially by Emerson's. The beer has a bready aroma with notes of banana and sherbet and has a pale cloudy appearance.

Weissbeirs are really popular throughout Germany but they are most popular in the Bavarian region, where they are sometimes enjoyed as a breakfast beer!
We think breakfast might be a little early for a beer at Atlas...however, you could always try matching an Emerson's Weissbier with some tasty items from our evening Tapas menu.
We recommend:

Asian-style crispy squid with wasabi mayo $9 (GF)

Pea & feta arancini with lemon aioli $7.50 (V)

Chicken & bacon pate with sourdough toast and apple compote $8

Whatever delicious Atlas food you decide on to accompany your Weissbier we're sure you will enjoy this tasty seasonal edition from Emerson's.

Emerson's Weissbier | 5% | $11.50

As always, please enjoy responsibly.
